Game 1:  BFJ's 7 : 5 BSFC Arsenal
      (1-0-0)       (0-1-0)

BFJ's Speed Shuts Down BSFC

After losing a thrilling game to The Czech Republic in the CoEd C Silver Finals last session, BSFC was looking to duplicate their success, if not improve upon it, and take the road back to the finals.  They started out on the right foot... Unfortunately, BFJ's did, too.  BSFC took an early lead when Erica Kaliszewski kicked a free kick perfectly to the foot of Jim Pilla (BSFC Indoor Debut) and he placed it past the keeper.  BFJ's answered back just minutes later to tie the game at one and then would take the lead on a fluke goal that bounced off of Gerimee Gervais' hands.  With under ten to play, Nick Kaliszewski evened the score back up with a perfectly placed shot to the right upper-90 corner.  BFJ's scored two late goals to take a 4-2 lead.  Knowing that their 2nd half was normally their best half in the Winter I session, BSFC looked to rebound.  They did play a much better half, but, unfortunately, BFJ's matched their first half production.  BFJ's scored two early goals to take a four-goal lead at 6-2.  Pilla scored his second goal of the game and Mike Goodelle added a goal to cut the lead back down to two (4-6).  BFJ's scored again to take a 7-4 lead with under ten minutes to play and then play returned to even, with BSFC actually slightly outshooting BFJ's, 8-5.  Erica Kaliszewski continued her scoring spree with a volley that found the back of the net off of a great head ball by Pilla.  This is how the game would end, 7-5 in favor of BFJ's.

Pointless Points-    Monday Games: 0-1-0        Field 1:  0-1-0

Game 2:  BSFC Arsenal 10 : 1 Mission Impossible
(1-1-0)                        (1-1-0)

BSFC Rebounds from Opening Day Loss

BSFC looked to rebound from their opening 5-7 loss to BFJ's... and they did.  They handed Mission Impossible their first loss of the young season and BSFC allowed no goals in the second half of the game.  Nick Kaliszewski scored early for a 1-0 lead, but just seconds later Mission Impossible tied it up on a shot that keeper Gerimee Gervais just barely missed.  Gervais came out to clear the ball and, as he was running back into the net, the opposing team fired a shot on target.  The ball rolled near the net and Gervais dove to hit it out, but it had already passed the line for the score.  This would be Mission Impossible's only goal as BSFC dominated the remaining 45 minutes of the game.  Angie Durkin scored two goals (both were rebound shots), and Jim Pilla and Holly Greiner added a goal-a-piece before the halftime buzzer sounded.  BSFC matched their first half production while shutting out Mission Impossible in the second half.  Mike Goodelle, Erica Kaliszewski, Corey Wolff and Keith Gebhart each scored while N. Kaliszewski found the net for his second goal of the game.  Despite losing their first game, BSFC's team play has been just short of spectacular in each of their first two games.

Pointless Points-    Monday Games: 1-1-0        Field 2:  1-0-0

Game 3:  BSFC Arsenal 6 : 3 Heels
                     (2-1-0)                     (1-2-0)

Blizzards Keep Players from Game; BSFC Pulls Out 'W'

After breaking even with their 10-1 destruction of Mission : Impossible, BSFC looked to get back in the Win Column with a second-straight victory.  Horrible weather conditions (snow) made it impossible for several players to transport to the game, so BSFC was forced to bring some reserve players in.  Chris Randazzo, playing his first game with BSFC since Spring 2006 after having surgery to repair his pelvis, scored the first goal of the game to give BSFC a 1-nil lead.  The Heels answered back quickly to tie it at one-a-piece, but Mike Goodelle took a lead pass from Corey Wolff and placed it perfectly in the back of the net to retake the one-goal lead.  BSFC, only up by one at half, broke the game open in the second half.  Holly Greiner and Wolff each scored to put BSFC up by three and Keith Gehbardt scored two consecutive goals (in between two Heels' goals) to give BSFC the 6-3 victory.

Game 4:  BSFC Arsenal 11 : 2 The Railbenders
    (3-1-0)                       (0-4-0)

BSFC Scores Seven Second-Half Goals in Rout

Coming off a game in which BSFC had to use many reserves due to poor weather, BSFC fielded their entire team for the entire game for the first time this session.  Their entire team proved that together they are going to be a contender.  After holding a 4-1 lead at halftime (Angie Durkin, Nick Kaliszewski, Jim Pilla, Mike Goodelle), BSFC went wild in the second half scoring seven goals and tying their own record for most goals scored in a half (third time in team history they've scored seven goals in a half; two of those games came in Winter I 2006 session; all three times have been in the second half of a game).  Holly Greiner started the onslaught with a goal that hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced in.  Durkin scored her second goal of the game on a great volley from N. Kaliszewski.  Corey Wolff tapped the ball in on a play from Erica Zinsser (not exactly sure if ball was going in before Wolff touched it).  Mark Hatheway, Wolff, Zinsser, and Erica Kaliszewski each scored goals to finish out the half and give BSFC the 11-2 victory over the last place The Railbenders.  BSFC has a bye week and then matches up against the Winter I 2006 Coed C Silver Champion, The Czech Republic (who beat BSFC twice last year; 9-5 in regular season and 3-2 in Finals).

Game 5:  The Czech Republic 3 : 2 BSFC Arsenal
        (3-3-0)                              (3-2-0)

Third Time Not a Charm Against Czechs

Two head-to-head matches in the previous session... A 9-5 offensive-paced regular season game in favor the The Czechs and a 3-2 nail biting decision to The Czechs in the CoEd C Silver Finals.  This game was looking to THE REMATCH of ALL REMATCHES.  It was... and it continued in the pattern that has been developing.  Had the Winter I 2006 CoEd C Silver Championship and this game been taped, they could've been played side-by-side with no definite sign of which game was which.  The Czechs got up 1-0 early when an offensive female player got a breakaway goal versus BSFC keeper, Gerimee Gervais.  Play returned to even until the final six minutes of the half when BSFC was able to outshoot The Czechs, 12-3.  Despite outplaying and outshooting The Czechs, BSFC was unable to find the goal until Corey Wolff corralled a rebound from Holly Greiner and placed it past the keeper with his left foot.  This 1-1 tie would prove to the halftime score.  The Czechs started early again, getting a one-goal lead on yet another breakaway goal.  Again, play returned to even until BSFC made a late offensive push.  Greiner dribbled down the middle of the field alone.  The Czechs' defender finally stepped up on her and she passed the ball over to Wolff.  Wolff took a few touches and buried the ball in the right lower corner of the goal to tie the game back up at two.  Unfortunately, however, The Czechs scored the their third goal of the game just seconds later to regain the one-goal lead.  Despite great efforts by BSFC offensively and defensively throughout the entire game, they were unable to get the equalizer and fell, for the third consecutive time, to The Czech Republic.

Pointless Points-    Tuesday Games: 1-1-0        Field 2:  2-1-0

Game 6:  BSFC Arsenal 11 : 4 Erie First Assembly
(4-2-0)                           (3-3-0)

Strong Team Play Earns 'W' in Second-Half Rout

This game started out very similar to BSFC's previous game, a 2-3 loss to The Czech Republic.  This game, however, did not end nearly the same as BSFC's previous game.  Erie First Assembly got on the board first with a breakaway goal against keeper, Gerimee Gervais.  Nick Kaliszewski played a beautiful through ball to Mike Goodelle, who rolled it perfectly past EFA's keeper to tie the game at one.  BSFC took a 2-1 lead when Corey Wolff assisted to Erica Zinsser off the boards.  Just as quickly as BSFC took the one-goal lead, they found themselves down by one after EFA scored two quick breakaway goals.  With under six minutes remaining, C. Wolff attempted to lob a ball into a "cluster" in front of the goal.  The ball hit the outside of his shoe and flew in the opposite direction.  As C. Wolff walked off the field in frustration the faulty kick he had just taken ricocheted off of the sidewall and bounced through the hands of the EFA keeper.  This "ugly goal" tied the game at three-a-piece.  Steph Bowen scored on a beautifully placed header in the upper left-hand corner of the goal with time running out to give BSFC a 4-3 lead going into the break.  BSFC exploded for seven second-half goals for the second time this season as they turned a close, back-and-forth game into a lopsided demolition.  Josh Wolff started the second half by scoring three straight goals in just over four minutes of play.  Jessie Westrick, C. Wolff, Keith Gebhardt and Erica Kaliszewski each scored a goal-a-piece, sandwiched around an EFA goal, for the 11-4 BSFC victory over rivals, Erie First Assembly.
NOTE: Holly Greiner (injury), Jim Pilla (injury) and Angie Durkin (vacation)
              did not play

Game 7:  BSFC Arsenal 5 : 5 W-Squad
                 (4-2-1)                        (3-2-1)

Hard Fought, Well Played Battle Ends in Draw

Despite missing some key players including Holly Greiner who playing for the opposing W-Squad, BSFC, reserves and all, stepped up their game and pulled out a well earned tie against Gold League, W-Squad.  After about eight minutes of even play, Jake Necci scored to put W-Squad up 1-0.  BSFC replied minutes later as Corey Wolff corralled a great one-hop pass from Keith Gebhardt and placed the ball past an out-of-position W-Squad keeper and into the lower right corner of the net.  Play returned to even until Brian Rock scored on a Greiner missed attempt that returned the one-goal lead to W-Squad.  BSFC scored two goals in the last four minutes of the game to take a 3-2 lead into the break (Mike Goodelle assisted to Nick Kaliszewski and Emily Chase assisted to Jim Pilla).  Immediately after the break, W-Squad scored to tie the game at 3-a-piece.  The next ten minutes of the game were very intense as both teams were about equal in shots and saves.  Both teams also had very great teamwork and ball control to keep the game even.  With under ten minutes remaining, N. Kaliszewski scored on a ball that he lobbed just over the head of the keeper and Jim Pilla blasted a ball into the lower left corner of the net.  These two goals gave BSFC a two-goal lead, 5-3 with about eight minutes remaining.  Unfortunately, for BSFC, W-Squad would score two late goals to end the game in a tie.  The tie was fitting, however, as both teams played great.  Despite letting go of a two-goal lead with just minutes remaining, BSFC played one of their best games of the season.
NOTES:  BSFC is now 0-1-1 against Gold League opponents, as they dropped
their first game of the season, 5-7, to BFJ's...

Game 8:  BSFC Arsenal 7 : 5 FFSP Crush
            (5-2-1)                        (2-5-0)

BSFC Avoids Late Comeback, Preserves Win

BSFC started off slow, picked up the pace and then almost blew it at the end.  BSFC and the Crush remained even for most of the first half until Holly Greiner started the scoring with a powerful shot past the keeper.  Mike Goodelle and Erica Kaliszewski each scored a goal at the end of the half to send BSFC into the break with a 3-0 lead.  It was a nice lead considering the sluggish first half, but not what BSFC would have liked the half-time score to be.  BSFC came out in a roar to start the second half as they lit up the Crush keeper for 4 consecutive goals.  Greiner scored two of the goals, Goodelle added his second of the game and Nick Kaliszewski netted his only goal for the game to build the 7-0 lead.  FFSP Crush would finally get on the board as they scored with about 12 minutes remaining.  At the six-minute mark, FFSP Crush would score their second goal of the game and add three more goals after that.  Luckily, for BSFC, the clock ran out before Crush had a chance to extend their unanswered goal streak.  Despite the sluggish play during the game, BSFC was able to maintain a lead and ended the regular season on a 2-0-1 unbeaten streak, their second three-game unbeaten streak of the season (BSFC went 3-0-0 from January 22 to February 19 before losing 2-3 to The Czech Republic).  It is looking like BSFC will earn the #1 Seed in the Silver Playoffs, but the rest of the league must complete their schedules to officially find this out.  Playoffs will be announced at a later date.

Silver Semifinals:  BSFC Arsenal 0 : 0 FFSP Strike Force
               (6-2-1)                        (2-6-1)

BSFC Overcomes 2-Week Layoff, Strike Force's Perseverance

BSFC started out hot, fizzled out in the middle, and then ended strong.  They built a 3-0 lead over FFSP Strike Force (Erica Zinsser, Nick Kaliszewski, Mark Hatheway) before the Force found the back of the net.  The halftime lead reflected this score of 3-1.  Angie Durkin found the back of the net as BSFC scored first in the second half to increase their lead to 4-1.  The Force answered back to bring the lead back down to two, but Mike Goodelle took a beautiful throw by Gerimee Gervais and blasted it past the Force keeper again give BSFC a three goal lead, 5-2.  Strike Force answered back quickly, yet again, to bring the lead back down to two, 5-3.  No goals were scored over the next eleven minutes, but Strike Force stepped up their game and out shot BSFC, 14-2.  Unfortunately, for the Force, their perseverance didn't pay off.  Their hustle and hard work led to them getting extremely tired with four minutes left to play.  N. Kaliszewski scored his second goal of the game and Corey Wolff added a goal with three seconds remaining to make the scoreboard reflect a final score of 7-3 in favor of BSFC.  BSFC advances to their second straight Silver Finals against The Czech Republic.

Silver Finals:  BSFC Arsenal 4 : 2 The Czech Republic
     (7-2-1)                         (5-5-0)

BSFC Earns First Ever Win vs. Czechs, First Championship Since Winter I 2005

0-3... 0 Wins, 3 Losses... 0 Points in 3 Games...  Throughout the entire season, those were the only numbers that BSFC was concerned about.  No one was talking about who had the most goals, no one was talking about the number of Win-Loss points BSFC had accumulated... the only numbers that were of any concern to BSFC were zero and three.  0-3.. That WAS BSFC's record against The Czech Republic entering their CoEd C Silver Championship Game match-up.  Notice the emphasis on the word WAS... BSFC was finally able to defeat the rival Czechs, and they did so when it mattered the most.  Nick Kaliszewski scored just minutes into the game giving BSFC only their 2nd lead ever against The Czech Republic.  Play was even until The Czechs tied the game at one with nine minutes remaining.  Jim Pilla gave BSFC a 2-1 lead taking a great pass from Holly Greiner and placing it perfectly past the keeper.  Two more goals were scored with under five minutes remaining; one by The Czechs and one by BSFC.  Just as quickly as The Czechs tied it the score at two, Mike Goodelle sent a rocket past the Czechs' keeper which gave BSFC a 3-2 halftime lead (BSFC's first ever halftime lead vs. The Czech Republic).  Play was very even for all of the second half.  If one team took the ball down and got a good shot off, the opposing team would return the favor and do the same.  No goals were scored until Corey Wolff scored the security goal with nine minutes remaining.  In the final four minutes of the game, The Czechs out shot BSFC, 11-1, but were unable to convert any of the shots into goals.  After being repeatedly denied by BSFC goalkeeper, Gerimee Gervais, and his stellar defense, BSFC heard the buzzer sound on their first ever victory against The Czech Republic.
