Gary Miller Jeep (1-0-0) 8 : 2 BSFC Arsenal (0-1-0)

New Season Begins Same as Old

Coming off of a disappointing Fall campaign, BSFC revamped their lineup to start the Winter I Session fresh.  Well, that fresh start was delayed... and hopefully not for too much longer.  With key players missing and a team struggling to find any rhythm, Gary Miller Jeep ate up BSFC... just as they had to start the previous season.  Nick Kaliszewski scored the first BSFC goal of the campaign after they found themselves already down 2-0.  They entered the half down, 1-4.  Gary Miller Jeep continued to dominate the flow of the game, scoring four more goals and only allowing one more BSFC goal (#2 for Kaliszewski).  Bryana Hayes and Aaron Contreras recorded the assists on the two goals.
Robbie Ortiz' debut in his second stint with BSFC went almost unnoticed as he was not able to produce due to Gary Miller Jeep's defenders double and triple teaming him.  BSFC intends on Ortiz to be a big factor this season, as long as they give him the help he needs.

BSFC Arsenal (1-1-0) 5 : 3 Greengarden Tavern (0-2-0)

BSFC Ends 7-Game Winless Streak

Oh, how good it felt!  As the opposing striker took a free kick from just outside the line with 24 seconds remaining, BSFC knew they had their first win in over two months regardless of the shot.  (Greengarden Tavern did not score on that shot, or in the last 24 seconds, just FYI)
After going 0-3-3 in the Fall Indoor Session, BSFC was seeking their first win in their last eight indoor games.  Their first win, as a team, since losing in the Bundesliga Semifinals in August and their first indoor win since winning the Spring 2007 Championship back in May.
BSFC led at the half, 2-0, thanks to Nick Kaliszewski's team-leading 3rd goal of the season and Bryana Hayes' first goal of the season.  Greengarden Tavern managed to tie the game at two in the second half, but Aaron Contreras and Angie Durkin scored back-to-back goals in a three minute span to regain the two-goal lead.  Greengarden cut the lead in half and it remained a one-goal game for much of the second half.  Robbie Ortiz, however, managed to score the security goal on his first goal of the season with four minutes remaining.
BSFC overcame Greengarden Tavern's talented individuals by playing as a team and hustling to each ball.  BSFC handily out shot Greengarden Tavern, but their keeper was able to keep them in it by making numerous game-changing saves.  Gerimee Gervais looked sharp, as always, in his debut making a string of three amazing saves in the second half that denied Greengarden Tavern any go-ahead goals.
Game Notes:  Angie Durkin, Ashley Covatto, Emily Chase, Gerimee Gervais and Mike Goodelle each made their season debuts...  Corey Wolff recorded his first point in eight games on an assist to Aaron Contreras...

Just Us (2-1-0) 7 : 3 BSFC Arsenal (1-2-0)

Depleted BSFC Team Hangs Tough in Loss

Despite missing several key players, and Just Us bringing down many "A-League" players to fill-in for their missing players, BSFC managed to keep the game from getting too out-of-hand by playing hard and making Just Us work for every goal.  BSFC struck first on reserve Mirzet Kubric's goal assisted by Mike Goodelle.  Just Us came back to tie it, but Aaron Contreras put BSFC up by one again on a goal assisted by Kubric.  Tied 2-2 at halftime, Just Us scored two quick goals to go up 4-2, but Kubric cut the lead in half on a goal assisted by Ashley Covatto.  Unfortunately for BSFC, however, Just Us reeled off three more goals in the final ten minutes of the game to come away with the 7-3 victory.

BSFC Arsenal (2-2-0) 8 : 4 Cat's Lounge (1-4-0)

Teamwork Shines in Victory

BSFC was able to rebound from a hard fought game against Just Us with an 8-4 victory over Cat's Lounge.  Angie Durkin opened the scoring almost immediately following the kickoff as she cleaned up a Corey Wolff missed shot.  Bryana Hayes scored just shortly after on almost the same exact play.  Wolff missed a shot that hit the post and redirected to Hayes who one-touched it in the back of the net.  Play returned to even for several minutes until Abby Fuhrman beat the keeper for BSFC's third goal of the match.  Just before the break, Cat's Lounge found their way on the board and Robbie Ortiz took a Hayes pass and blasted it past the keeper for a 4-1 BSFC halftime lead.  The first eight minutes of the second half saw both teams play even with several shots fired, but no goals scored.  Ortiz scored his second goal of the game after he dribbled through three defenders and beat the keeper in the bottom right corner of the net.  The Cat's Lounge scored to bring the game back to a three-goal deficit, but Aaron Contreras quickly answered back for BSFC with his third goal of the season.  During a period of slightly sloppy play by BSFC, Cat's Lounge scored two consecutive goals to cut the deficit in half at 2-4.  This would only give BSFC a brief scare, however, as Contreras and Nick Kaliszewski both scored before the final buzzer blew.

BSFC Arsenal (2-2-1) 8 : 8 Valhalla Soccer Club (2-1-2)

Big Comeback, Gervais' Clutch Save Fuel Draw

Looking for their first two game unbeaten streak (wins or ties) since the Bundesliga campaign, BSFC took the field against third place Valhalla Soccer Club.  BSFC sort of shocked themselves when they found themselves with a 3-1 lead with under ten minutes to play in the first half.  Robbie Ortiz scored off of an Ashley Covatto corner kick, Bryana Hayes slammed home a rebound shot, and Nick Kaliszewski placed a perfect ball past the fingers of an outstretched VSC keeper.  Valhalla scored to cut the lead in half, but a Jim Pilla miscue turned into a beautiful shot by Covatto for her first goal of the season.  Unfortunately, VSC would have a 5-4 lead at the intermission.  Looking to come out and even the game back up, BSFC did just the opposite by having a complete breakdown and allowing three quick Valhalla goals.  Trailing 8-4 BSFC attempted to keep their heads up as best as possible, but the VSC scoring outburst took a slight toll on BSFC.  Despite not scoring any more goals, Valhalla dominated the next 6 1/2 minutes of the game, out-shooting BSFC, 14-2, and threatening to add to their lead.  Then, BSFC just "clicked"...  Ortiz scored his second goal of the game to bring the deficit to three goals.  Covatto gave BSFC a bit more hope when she cleaned up another missed shut to bring them within two goals.  Ortiz' third goal of the game, first hat trick of the season, cut the deficit in half to bring the game to 7-8.  With 48 seconds left in the game, Aaron Contreras gave BSFC the improbable game-tying goal.  Kaliszewski passed over to Contreras, who proceeded to get past a defender.  As the keeper approached him, he faked to his left and beat the keeper to his right allowing him to walk the ball in the back of the net.  With 30 seconds remaining, VSC quickly took the kick-off and dribbled furiously down the field.  Their first shot hit wide and as Emily Chase was going to clear the ball, a VSC striker viciously stole the ball from her.  The striker dribbled at BSFC keeper, Gerimee Gervais in a 1-on-1 situation.  Luckily, for BSFC, Gervais read the play perfectly and slid to kick the ball away from the striker.  The ball rolled to Chase who swiftly cleared the ball with five seconds remaining.  As the ball rolled toward the VSC keeper, the buzzer sounded showing BSFC and Valhalla Soccer Club tied at eight.

BSFC Arsenal (3-2-1) 7 : 4 Sting SC (0-6-0)

BSFC Over .500 for First Time Since Bundesliga

For the first time since the Bundesliga Outdoor League (Summer 2007), BSFC is over the .500% mark in a season.  After going 0-3-3 in the Fall Indoor Session, BSFC is now sitting at 3-2-1.  Playing with just enough girls (3) for the second straight game, BSFC was able to "relax" a bit playing against a highly under matched team.  Angie Durkin started the scoring via a Robbie Ortiz through ball and then Bryana Hayes scored off of a pass from Mike Goodelle, sandwiched around a Sting SC goal.  Ortiz scored his first goal of the game just before the break for a 3-1 halftime lead.  Sting scored the first goal of the second half, cutting the deficit in half, but Ortiz answered back with two goals (completing his second consecutive hat trick) both assisted by Corey Wolff. Mike Goodelle scored his first goal of the season just shortly after the Sting scored their third goal of the game.  Durkin would add her second goal of the game, assisted by Aaron Contreras, and Sting would score the final goal of the game for a 7-4 BSFC victory.

BSFC Arsenal (4-2-1) 3 : 2 LECOM Two (1-6-0)

Ladies Shine in Extending Unbeaten Streak to Four

Playing their third straight game with no female subs, BSFC intended on their guys doing a lot of running to keep the females fresh.  Playing with only one male sub, however, the ladies not only stayed fresh and did a lot of running... they did just about... well, everything!  The score remained even at zeros for the first 11 minutes of the game until Ashley Covatto scored on a perfectly placed free kick for a 1-0 lead.  Under five minutes later, Covatto would record her third point of the game on a beautiful assist that split two defenders on its way to Emily Chase.  Chase then scored her first career BSFC goal by beating the LECOM keeper near post.  The 2-0 lead put smiles on all of BSFC's player's faces as they knew they earned the two-goal margin at the break.  The teams would play evenly for the first five minutes of the second half, but LECOM would score two goals in a 12 minute span to tie the game at two-a-piece.  BSFC reeled off shot after shot, but could not hit even near the goal, let alone the net itself.  With just over 50 seconds remaining, however, the ladies came through yet again.  Bryana Hayes took a pass from Covatto and faked past a defender.  Hayes made a simple pass back to Covatto, who leaned to her right, went left and fired a shot.  The ball found the right corner of the net, just past an outstretched LECOM keeper for the game-winner.  Covatto recorded five points with an assist and two goals, including the game-winner.

BSFC Arsenal (4-2-2) 5 : 5 W-Squad (4-1-2)

Unbeaten Streak Stretched to Five Entering Playoffs

BSFC had already clinched a playoff spot prior to this game, but where they seeded was a major factor lying in their match-up against rival W-Squad.  A win could launch BSFC as high as 3rd place and a Gold #3 Seed and a loss could drop them no lower than 5th place and a #1 Seed in the Silver Bracket.  Playing two girls down to the start the game, BSFC gave up an early goal to W-Squad; just 30 seconds into the game.  BSFC answered back, however, to tie the game at one on Robbie Ortiz' first of four goals.  W-Squad would not just give-in to BSFC and scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead with ten minutes remaining in the half.  Ortiz completed his third consecutive hat trick as the third and tying goal came with under ten second remaining in the half.  W-Squad regained a one-goal lead by scoring first in the second half, but BSFC would take their first lead of the game late in the second half.  Ortiz scored his fourth goal of the night to tie at four and then Ashley Covatto, who already recorded two assists, scored BSFC's fifth and potential game-winning goal with eight minutes remaining in the game.  Despite the great effort, the victory was not meant to be as W-Squad tied the game with three minutes remaining.  Although they didn't record a win, BSFC fought for a well-deserved tie against rival W-Squad (third tie in their past four meetings).
Game Notes:  BSFC played their fourth straight game with just enough girls to play... For the third time, out of those four game, the three girls with Ashley Covatto, Bryana Hayes and Emily Chase...

BSFC Arsenal (5-2-2) 9 : 4 Valhalla Soccer Club (2-5-2)

Offense Comes Alive in Blowout

Having not scored a goal in 16 straight games, Captain Corey Wolff said he was going to score a goal in BSFC's Silver Semifinals match-up against Valhalla Soccer Club (VSC).  He scored the go-ahead goal, which turned out to be the winning goal, and he, nor his teammates, were done there.
Robbie Ortiz started the scoring when VSC's keeper misjudged a missed shot.  The ball bounced to Angie Durkin, who wisely noted an open goal, and made a great pass to Ortiz, who lit up the open goal.  Durkin then put BSFC up two off of an assist from Bryana Hayes and then Jeremy Blymiller made it 3-0.  VSC cut the lead to two with a goal of their own, but Nick Kaliszewski answered quickly to put BSFC back up by three.  Valhalla would answer just before the break to cut the halftime lead to 4-2.  BSFC again opened the scoring quickly in the second half.  Wolff scored his first goal of the season by cleaning up a misplayed ball from Durkin.  Durkin, being defended tightly, was unable to get a good foot on the ball and tapped it over in the direction of Wolff.  VSC again cut the lead to two on a goal by former BSFC-mate, Ryan Morrow.  Just as BSFC got momentum going in their favor again off of another Blymiller goal, VSC drowned out the momentum by again scoring to cut the lead to 6-4.  This would be their last goal and momentum-stopper however.  Aaron Contreras, who played solid defense throughout the game, scored to make it 7-4.  Emily Chase, who also played very solid defense, assisted to Wolff to make it 8-4 and then Erica Langill, who was also a rock on defense, assisted to Wolff who made it 9-4.  Along with Contreras, Chase and Langill, Keith Gebhardt played phenomenal on defense by making several stops on rebound attempts by VSC and shutting down any big play VSC would attempt to start.
Game Notes:  On top of stopping his 16-game scoreless slide, Corey Wolff recorded his first hat trick since Winter II 2006 Session... Keith Gebhardt, defender, recorded four shots on goal (third most shots on goal in a game of his career)...
Player Notes:  Ashley Covatto and Mike Goodelle will miss the playoffs and all of next session due to injuries.  Covatto had emergency appendectomy surgery to remove a near-burst appendix and Goodelle fractured his toe during a BSFC Men's Game.  BSFC wishes them both the best of luck in their recoveries and rehabs.

BSFC Arsenal (6-2-2) 7 : 4 LECOM One (4-4-1)

BSFC Pulls Away in 2nd Half for Title

BSFC didn't start off as hot as they played in their Semifinal match-up against Valhalla Soccer Club; finding themselves down 1-0 just minutes into the game.  Jeremy Blymiller scored two straight goals and Robbie Ortiz scored a third to give BSFC a 3-1 lead.  The pesky LECOM players erased this lead, however, scoring three straight goals to regain a one-goal lead entering the break.  Regrouped and refocused, BSFC switched back to the rotation lines they had used in their 9-4 Semifinal victory.  Just minutes into the half, Blymiller completed his hat trick to tie the game at four-a-piece.  A few minutes later Blymiller assisted to Nick Kaliszewski who ripped a shot in the lower left-hand corner of the net for the go-ahead goal, and what turned out to be the game-winning goal. From this point forward, BSFC's stingy defense applied solid pressure and rendered LECOM scoreless for the entire second half.  Aaron Contreras scored a security goal to make it 6-4 with ten minutes remaining and Corey Wolff secured the victory with his fourth goal of the season (all of them in the playoffs) with just two minutes remaining.
Game Notes:  With the win, BSFC stretched their unbeaten streak to seven games...
