CoEd B Season Review

BSFC looked to rebound from their 4-5 Winter II 2006 season and took a step in the right direction by getting former players Ashley Wegelin (defense), Emily Chase (defense), and Ashley Covatto (forward) to rejoin the team.  They brought back all of their male players with the exception of Brandon Garrity and Adam Deniziak.  Brian Przybyszewski was brought in to replace the void at midfield.  In their first game against Logistics Plus, BSFC found themselves with the lead for most of the game, but Logistics Plus threatened to tie near the end of the game.  BSFC was able to hold on, with great defense and goalkeeping by Josh Wolff, with a 4-3 victory.  BSFC next demolished "What A Classy Bunch" while completing their first shutout in team history.  Ryan Morrow, Tom Wright, Dave Bell and Ashley Covatto each scored two goals in this event.  Knowing that the next game, against LECOM Yellow, would be nowhere near as easy BSFC had to regroup and play back to their potential.  Chris Buckner, goalkeeper for Rich DeArment's teams, made his BSFC debut in place of Josh Wolff, who was unavailable for action due to illness.  BSFC was quickly down  as Adam Calta (LECOM Yellow) found net twice.  BSFC would not just lay down for LECOM, however, as Tom Wright immediately responded with two goals of his own.  Ryan Morrow and Cara Esser would each find net to increase the halftime lead to 4-2.  LECOM Yellow would add a goal in the second half, but Tom Wright helped maintain the two-goal game with the completion of his first hat trick of the season.  Next up was struggling Scully's Pub.  Things didn't get much better for Scully's against BSFC.  Ryan Morrow led the way with two goals and Brian Przybyszewski, Ashley Covatto, and Tom Wright each added one for a 5-3 victory to increase BSFC's record to 4-0.  Brian was red carded in this game for violent actions and abusive language.  His suspension then led to him quitting the team.  Mike Chapman was brought in to replace Brian on the roster.  BSFC then matched up against "What A Classy Bunch" for the second time and were able to clinch the #1 seeding for playoffs with the 7-3 victory.  Ryan Morrow led the way with three goals as Holly Greiner and Tom Wright scored two goals-a-piece.  Tom Wright did not play in the second matchup against Logistics Plus in order to rest his injuries.  Knowing that the game had no factor in playoff seeding for either team, BSFC did not feel the need to play at a 100% and the final score of 5-10 reflected this state of mind.  BSFC played with no female subs as Cara Esser, Emily Chase, and Ashley Covatto were all unavailable for action due to schedule conflicts.  Chris Buckner played his second game for BSFC as Josh Wolff was unable to play due to surgery on his feet.  Ryan Morrow scored three goals for the second straight game and Holly Greiner and Sam Melaragno each added one.  BSFC planned on going full-strength into their semifinal matchup vs. #4 LECOM Yellow.  Josh Wolff and Tom Wright both returned to the lineup.  Unfortunately, however, Carrie Smock, Ashley Covatto, Cara Esser, Mike Chapman, and Sam Melaragno were not present; all due to schedule conflicts.  Playing with no female subs for the second straight game, BSFC was unable to play at LECOM's pace as LECOM Yellow advanced to the Finals with a 12-6 bombing of BSFC.  (Logistics Plus defeated Scully's Pub 5-4 in the other semifinal and then defeated LECOM Yellow 5-4 as they netted the game winner with just under a minute remaining.)

CoEd B Spring 2006 Report Card

Their offseason transactions along with their best start in team history (5-0-0) would earn BSFC an A+.  Unfortunately, however, their attitude in their only two losses would earn BSFC an F.  The key to success is building a strong team mentality and maintaining that mentality throughout the entire season.
OVERALL GRADE:  C+ (Despite the poor play and attitudes in their two losses to League Champion, Logistics Plus, and League Finalist, LECOM Yellow, BSFC did have a tremendous start.  They won three close games and managed to win two of them in comeback fashion.  BSFC still needs to work on maintaining their team mentality and team morale by playing as a team and winning the games that really matter... CoEd C Season Review

BSFC was trying to have a positive outlook on this season, despite returning a team that went 3-6 last session.  BSFC brought back all seven male players and three of the six female players from last session (Jaime McGuire, Missy Peck and Megan Peterson).  BSFC signed Sarah Krajnik, Erica Kaliszewski and Cindy Bretz to fill the three remaining female spots on the roster.  BSFC's first game was postponed against former BSFC-mate, Carl Zimmerman's, Off Constantly.  BSFC then opened the season with a 5-3 victory over Goal Seekers (former B-League Tigers).  Corey Wolff led the way with two goals, the first and last goals, and Chris Randazzo, Ryan Covington and Mark Hatheway each added a goal.  Feeling good after starting the season 1-0, BSFC then matched up against The Ligers, led by former BSFC-mate, Bot.  Despite playing BSFC very tough in the first half, The Ligers were unable to keep pace with BSFC for the entire game.  Chris Randazzo, Erica Kaliszewski, Mike Goodelle, and Megan Peterson each scored to fuel the BSFC 4-1 victory.  Gerimee Gervais barely missed the shutout as The Ligers managed to score their lone goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining.  Being two games over .500% for the first time since the Winter I 2005 session and starting 2-0 for the first time since Bundesliga 2005, BSFC felt very confident going into their game against Off Constantly.  BSFC jumped to an early 2-0 lead, en route to a 7-1 blowout.  Chris Randazzo led the way with three goals as Cindy Bretz, Ryan Covington, Corey Wolff, and Lauren Kaufman each added a goal.  Gerimee Gervais played another brilliant game, but was unable to preserve the shutout as Off Constantly scored their lone goal of the game with under 30 seconds remaining.  BSFC then matched up against FFSP Tsunami (House Team), who were 0-4 with a -19 goal differential.  BSFC let their guard down against Tsunami, but were able to pull out a "much closer than liked" game, 7-4.  Ryan Covington led the team with his first career hat trick and Corey Wolff and Chris Randazzo each scored two goals.  Gerimee played another good game back in the net, but faced many breakaway attempts due to a defensive breakdown.  Walnut Greek was battling for the fourth and final playoff spot, while Erie First Assembly, BSFC and Purple Ribbon All-Stars were battling for the first playoff spot as all three were still undefeated.  BSFC made easy work of Walnut Greek as Chris Randazzo scored two goals and Ryan Covington, Corey Wolff and Mike Goodelle each added a goal.  Gerimee Gervais played yet another spectacular game in net and allowed the only goal against in the game with under a minute remaining.  BSFC's final game was against undefeated Erie First Assembly.  If BSFC tied or defeated EFA, they would lock up the #1 seed for playoffs, but if they lost they could fall to as low as the third playoff seed.  BSFC scored quickly, but EFA responded immediately with three goals (including a BSFC own goal).  Lauren Kaufman would add her second of the game to cut the halftime defecit to 2-3.  EFA added their fourth goal at the start of the second half and would maintain the 4-2 advantage for most of the game.  Mark Hatheway led the comeback with a brilliant free kick from about 15 feet behind the free kick line.  With just over a minute remaining, Corey Wolff buried the game-tying goal.  BSFC would manage to get off three more good shots, but were unable to convert the game-winner.  With the 4-4 draw with EFA, BSFC earned the #1 playoff seed and matched up against #4 Final Finish.  The teams were tied at halftime, 2-2, but Final Finish scored two quick second half goals to take the 4-2 lead.  BSFC was down 2-4 again for most of the second half and, again, managed to make a great comeback.  Ryan Covington cut the defecit to one and then Mark Hatheway tied the game on a free kick from another shot from about 15 feet beyond the free kick line.  BSFC played the final five minutes of the game a player down due to a red card given to Corey Wolff for "violent actions".  In the five minute Golden Goal period, BSFC returned to full strength and were outshot 4-2 by Final Finish, but managed to maintain the even score.  In the initial shootout, Chris Randazzo scored the only goal out of three BSFC attempts to tie the shootout at one.  After another two BSFC attempts, Cindy Bretz was able to beat the Final Finish keeper and score the game-winning shot in the Golden Goal Shootout.  Playing the very next night and playing without Corey Wolff, BSFC fell apart and were unable to play their own game vs. the second-seeded Purple Ribbon All-Stars.  Mike Goodelle and Ryan Covington each scored a second half goal as Purple Ribbon All-Stars won the CoEd C Silver Championship, 7-2, and handed BSFC their only loss of the season.

CoEd C Spring 2006 Report Card

The best record in club history (6-1-1; including playoffs) overshadows their nightmare Finals game against Purple Ribbon All-Stars.  Despite playing a horrible first half, BSFC managed to pick up their game and score two goals while holding the All-Stars to just two goals (compared to five first half goals).  As a team, throughout the entire season, BSFC played great as many players stepped up at various points in the season to lead BSFC to their third Finals appearance in four sessions.
OVERALL GRADE:  A  (Gerimee Gervais' brilliant play in net throughout the entire season locked up the great grade and the best record in BSFC history.)
